Sushi Icebreaker @ Top Gun
Come and get to know your fellow club members better by joining them for a bountiful sushi feast! We will be heading down to Top Gun Sushi in New Westminster after our weeklies end at around 7:30pm this coming Thursday. Cost is around $25, but it is all you can eat. We strongly recommend that all members attend, especially new members!
We STRONGLY recommend that everyone attend weeklies at SFU Burnaby campus on Thursday night and head to Top Gun from there. That way we can assist all members there as a group and not worry about stragglers. However, if you would prefer to head there on your own and meet the group, the address has been included. Just head towards the quay from New Westminster SkyTrain station. You can meet us there at 8:30pm. It will be a large group, so you probably won't miss us!

Forum Spamfilter Error
Apologies to everyone who has been unable to post on the forums. It has been brought to our attention that there is a problem with a spamfilter that was installed and not tested properly, and we're just contacting the admin to fix/remove the problem. Forums should be operational asap, probably in the next day or so.

Important Info for September 2009
To all new members who have stumbled upon this website: welcome to the Altered Reality Club, SFU's gaming, anime, and comics club! If you're looking for a great way to relax and make new friends this semester, then I'm happy to say that your search is over.
The ARC will be at SFU Clubs Days on Tuesday-Wednesday (September 15-16). Please stop by if you want to sign up for the club and be on our mailing list. Please note that we need you to sign the sheet AND provide your student number to put you on the new mailing list! That goes for existing members as well! Things will get rolling quickly with our Anime Weeklies beginning on Thursday, September 17 at 4:30pm in AQ3159.
We will be showcasing three regular showings (Sengoku Basara, Cassern Sins, Eden of the East) followed by a different special presentation each week. Here is a quick rundown for the first few weeks:
September 10: No weeklies.
September 17: FLCL episodes 1-6
September 24: Regular showings begin followed by Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
October 1: Regular showings followed by Troll 2
October 8: Regular showings followed by Detroit Metal City 1-6
Our First General Meeting for the year will take place on Tuesday, September 22 at 4:00pm in the Rotunda. (If you don't know where that is, the Rotunda is the large, round room right above the stairs leading down to the lower bus loop. Just look for our giant board!) We'll be going over our plans for the entire year as well as electing new executives. Please be sure to attend, ESPECIALLY if you intend to run for an executive or deputy position. This will be followed by our Gaming Icebreaker Event in the MBC Conference Rooms, which we will lead new members to after the meeting! Food and drinks will be provided!
Our regular Gaming Nights take place every Tuesday at 4:00pm in the Rotunda. If any of these times aren't convenient for you, just swing by the ARC board in the Rotunda. Chances are you'll find a bunch of club members mulling about.
EDIT: We encourage new members to join our Facebook group, which can be accessed through this link.

Rotunda Sleepover
OK, let's try this again. The Rotunda Sleepover will take place on Tuesday, August 25 starting at 6pm, and it will be amazing.
If you haven't been on Burnaby Campus in the past three weeks, it may surprise you to learn that after an extended renovation period, the rotunda has been reopened to the public. This rejuvenation entails the removal of thirty year old carpet, the installation of a ventilation system that actually functions, and a cascade of power outlets lining the room's interior, giving that formerly lone socket in the rotunda's far corner a long deserved retirement. But like any great innovation, this comes at a hefty price: the rotunda is now actually a PLEASANT place to be, meaning that the school's general population are going to be all over it.
That is why we, as the ARC, must stake our territory as quickly and mercilessly as possible! All willing to do so are advised to bring enough supplies to get yourself through night. There is no guarantee that the club will be providing food or entertainment! But keep in mind that now that the rotunda has plugs, any electronic devices you could bring with you are going to be most appreciated!
Important Notice Regarding the Interwebs
You've probably noticed that I've changed a few things around on the forums.
I've added a "Name" tab to your profiles. This way people with fancy-smancy account names will have to put their real name down in that tab, so we can know who you are. This is so that when events are planned on the forums, we don't go calling our friend at MENSA to figure out who's who. PLEASE go do that now, it's just going to your profile, hitting edit, and throwing it in there. Helps out everyone.
I'm removing some of the useless stuff, like the relationships tab (complete garbage), and moving some other stuff around.
Hopefully this'll be better with a bit less clutter and such. Also added in the option to turn off some tabs (like birthdays and such) in your options menu.
Apparently the new website has to be done in Drupal, so I'm going to do that on Friday, and we should hopefully have it up with Gavin's help soon after that.
I'm thinking of a green colour scheme. Again, going to try my best to have little clutter and good organization.
Throw me a line if you have any ideas for the website/forums that you'd like implimented and I'll see what I can do.

Second General Meeting (Summer 2009)
Our second general meeting will be taking place on June 23 at 4:00pm in the MBC Conference Rooms. Please swing by if you want to get caught up on current happenings with the club!
ARC Midsummer Night EXTREME Party
What better way to ring in the summer than to spend it sitting in doors playing games? The Altered Reality Club's mid-semester party for the semester will be held on Tuesday, June 23 at 6:00pm in the MBC Conference Rooms. Please bring any games and Wii-motes you may have in your possession. Bryson will be there, so expect many of the games. Likely quite a few of the mind variety.
We will be getting some food catered at the party, but please be aware that it will NOT be enough for everyone. We strongly recommend that everyone bring their own food contributions to the party.

Summer 2009 Cosplay Meeting
Please come to this semester's Cosplay Meeting if you are interested in organizing cosplay events, picking up skills on making costumes, or what information on photoshoots which will be happening over the course of the summer.
The meeting will be held in MBC Conference Rooms, where the general meeting is taking place the day prior.
Summer 2009 First General Meeting and Gaming Event
We propose that it is entirely possible to have fun at school over the summer, and the ARC is ready to see to it for the semester. The planning will commence on May 19 when the club holds its first meeting for the Summer 2009 semester in the MBC Conference Rooms, where we will plan out events and activities for the next few months. If you need extra incentive, there will also be free food, including pizza and drinks! Please feel free to bring any of your own food or snacks to share, as well.
It will be followed by our Gaming Event which will take place in the same room. There will be plenty of D&D and video gaming going on, but feel free to bring your own games! (Also, Wii-motes if you have them!) If you don't know where the MBC Conference Rooms are, they are located behind the photocopying area of the Maggie Benston Centre. If you've been to Anime Evolution while it was held at SFU, they were used as the dealer's room.
Please note that all subsequent gaming nights will be held in the Shrum Lounge. To get there, simply follow the hallway outside C9000 in the AQ, and take the first left. When you find a room with large windows and couches, you'll know you're in the right place!
