Christmas Party 2008 details

Party will be on December 16 at 5:00pm in the Forum Chambers at SFU (room with the pianos beneath the pub). The party will be a potluck and, due to a lack of funding at this point in the semester, the club will not be able to provide enough food for everyone. A bit of sushi and pop... but that's about it. We are expecting all attendees to bring at least one delicious food item with them, so please contribute!

Gaming will be going as usual, but we do ask that you bring your own Wii-motes if you have them. Also, contributions of any board games would also be appreciated. Like every year, we will be playing Cutthroat Christmas. For rules and information on how to play, check out Jevon's post here.

Hope to see you all there! You can view the Facebook page for the event here.

Important Notice: Room Changes and Video Game Night

Please note that the rooms for weeklies will be changed for the rest of the semester. On November 13 (this Thursday), they will be held in AQ3149 at the same time. On November 20 and 27, weeklies will be held in ASSC 10041.

Also note that weeklies will be followed by our next Video Game Night at 7:30pm. Be sure to bring your Wii-motes!

Details on Quantum of Solace

On Friday, we'll be going to the 8:00pm screening of Quantum of Solace at SilverCity in Metrotown. We will meet in the SilverCity lobby at 6:00pm. Be sure to buy your tickets beforehand!

Upcoming Club Events: Bowling, Quantum of Solace

This Thursday we will be going Bowling! We'll be going to Rev's which is located at 5502 Lougheed Highway in Burnaby, right near Holdom SkyTrain station. We'll be going right after weeklies and likely arriving between 8 and 8:30pm. If you want to come but aren't coming to weeklies, please reply to this e-mail and let me know!

Also, the following Thursday (November 13) we will be holding our second Video Game Night right after weeklies at 7:30pm. It will be in AQ3159 AQ3149, so please pop by! The next night (Friday November 14) I intend to organize a group viewing of the latest James Bond film "Quantum of Solace" at Metrotown Silver City. If you wish to attend please e-mail me and let me know. I'm going to pretty much require that people pre purchase their tickets, due to this being an opening night. Let me know if you'll have any problems with purchasing tickets online.

Art Contest for Fall 2008

Just in case you didn't receive the e-mail, here is the submission form for this semester's Art Contest. The theme will be "At the end of the world". I've seen quite a few members with DevArt accounts, so hopefully we'll be getting lots of great submissions!

Upcoming Events: Meeting, Video Games, Cosplay Workshop, and Lazer Tag!

Our Second General Meeting will be on Tuesday, October 14 at 4:30pm in the Rotunda. We'll be discussing what is going to go down at the Halloween party (which will be on October 30th), the remaining budget for the semester, and other events members would like to see happen.

The meeting will be followed by our very first Video Gaming Night at 6:00pm in AQ 3150. We'll have a lecture hall projector set up along with two TVs which, together, should accommodate a PS2 and two Wiis. If you have any spare Wii-motes, it is highly recommend that you bring them along!

On Wednesday, October 15, Kevin will be hosting a Cosplay Workshop at 5:00pm in the MBC Conference rooms 2292-2296, which some of you may know as the old Anime Evolution Dealer's Room. Come by to learn some new costume making techniques (or just how to make a costume) in time for Halloween.

On Thursday the 17th we will be going for Lazer Tag after weeklies at Planet Lazer near Braid Station! More details on that to follow.

There is nothing definitively planned for this coming Thursday, October 9th. However, we will likely wind up going for dinner and possibly karaoke. Anyone interested is free to come along. Please let us know if you won't be at weeklies but still plan to come.

ARC Fall Icebreaker

Just a notice to anyone who doesn't know: the ARC will be holding an icebreaker on Thursday, September 18th (ie: tonight) at Top Gun Sushi in New Westminster. If you're not coming to weeklies, you can meet us a the top of the New West SkyTrain station at 7:30pm. Hope to see you there!

Important Info for Fall 2008

Apparently a significant number of new students have already found this website and are, subsequently, already e-mailing me about club information. So, it will probably be best to get everyone up to date through the front page right now!

The Altered Reality Club will be at SFU Clubs Days on September 9th and 10th at Table 75. Please stop by if you want to sign up for the club and be on our mailing list. Please note that we need you to sign the sheet to put you on the new mailing list! Club activities will start almost right away with the first of our Anime Weeklies on Thursday, September 11th, starting at 4:30pm in AQ3159. The time and place will remain the same for the entire semester. We will be showing the following series':

- The Daughter of Twenty Faces
- Natsume Yuujinchou
- Hana-Kimi (Live Action Series)
- Soul Eater OR Macross Frontier (vote for which series you want to see at Clubs Days!)

Our first general meeting for the semester will be on Tuesday, September 16th at 4:30pm 5:00pm in the rotunda. We'll be talking about some very important issues, so I urge you all to attend if possible. It will be followed up by our first Games Night for the semester, which will start at 6:00pm also in the rotunda. If you have any tabletop RPGs or board games you'd like to break out, be sure to bring them with you!

Notice on meeting

Just letting you all know that due to inconvenient scheduling for a few members, we will now be doing our club meeting during the break at weeklies, like around 4-4:30pm, in AQ3005. However, I will still be in the Rotunda at 2:30pm if you can't make it and want to discuss the topics of the meeting. Hope to see you all there!
