Weeklies Start Tomorrow

The first weeklies of the semester start tomorrow, Sept 14, 2006. I will announce the rooms for the weeklies for the falling weeks very soon as we are waiting for some kinks to the schedule we were given to be ironed out by good old room bookings. Anyways here is the official time and what not...

ARC Weeklies:

Enjoy!

New Site!

Welcome to the newly encoded piece of interweb as constructed by Gavin over the last while. It is finally out as you can see. It is much more interactive then the old site so take your time to check it out. Hopefully I will have the anime weeklies page up and running shortly, but in the mean time revel in the new design!

Club Days

Come down to the Convocation Mall between 10am and 3pm on Tuesday Sept 12 and Wednesday Sept 13 and sign up for another semester of the ARC. Also stay tuned for the date time and place of the anime weeklies for the semester.

ARC Summer House Party

OK the long bit of wrangling and my personal slacking in terms of answering emails is done. We have arranged a party at Lyn's who is kindly offering usher back yard to have our way with.

Details:

Place: Lyn's
Day: Aug 31, 2006 (Thursday)
Time: 11:30 am til whenever we get kicked out

What to bring: this is going to be a potluck so bring stuff to eat. Sandwiches, salads, whatever. Lyn also may or may not have an operating BBQ, so we may not be able to cook delicious dead animal. I will keep you posted. She also has a pool so bring swim trunks or whatever. Also bring games and sports equipment and anything that you think will entertain
yourself and others.

Directions: (as Lyn wrote in her email so I copypasta) Easiest route from school is to take the 143, watching the left side for a Chevron. Alternatively, you could watch the street signs for Poirier St (immediately after Wasco). Pull the ringer and you should get off
kitty-corner from the gas station. Go down Poirier (past the aforementioned gas station) until the stop sign, turn left (Harbour Dr), then take the next right (Canyon Crt). My house is on the right side, the only one with a brick driveway.

Make sure you pay attention, however, the street is hidden because some idiot planted bushes right in front of the street sign. If the road starts twisting, you've passed it.

If people don't feel like going all the way up to the school, another option is to take the 156 from Lougheed until they're on Como Lake, then switch to the 143.

So see you guys there.

Shoujo Beat July 2006

A week after we get our first issue of Shonen Jump, we now have received our first issue of Shoujo Beat. It will be soon transfered to our manga library for use and abuse. It features titles Nana, Absolute Boyfriend (aka Zettai Kareshi), Baby and Me, Kaze Hikaru, Crimson Hero, and a new series to the anthology entitled Vampire Knight, which is I flipped through and is pretty much a vampire / high school harem manga that. First chapter opens up a bunch of mysteries so I guess you going to want more if you read it. If you like that sort of thing anyway. Shoujo Beat is also celebrating their one year anniversary with this issue and they have "coloured" all the pages, which means they have used different inks, similar to what some Japanese Anthologies do. For example some chapters are all blue and some are all pink, etc. There are a couple of all colour ones though so it gives it a bit of novelty. I would also like to thank those who have donated a couple of issues of shoujo beat and shonen jump to the library to give it a bit of girth. Now, hopefully people make good use of it.

Shonen Jump Arrives

The first issue of Shonen Jump has arrived for the club and will soon be in the hands of our new manga librarian Erin for the club to use and abuse. Shonen Jump features DBZ, hikaru no go, Naruto, One Piece, Yu Yu Hakusho and usually has some nice large sized previews for various title that Viz will be releasing in the near feature. For example this one has the interesting Busou Renkin, which is by the same mangaka as Rurouni Kenshin. There is also word that a number of back issues will be donated by various club members to help beef up the "Jumpage." Soon we will have Shoujo Beat arrive as well and speaking of which, for those of you who have back isssues of shoujo beat who want to donate them to the club it would be much appreciated. Just get in contact with me at

or just bring them to weeklies and dump them on us. Also stay tuned to find out the exact rules and take out times for our manga library.

Thanks to Tony's artistic and image stealing talents we now have some snappy new flyers debuting at Club Days. They are in various themes based on Bleach, Ouran Host Club, Rozen Maiden, and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Finally we will have something semi-cool feeling and looking to hand out.
