Anime Information

Anime is ARC's main focus of the club. It is the common term used to describe Japanese Animations. Anime can be easily distinguished between Western animation by the differences in drawing styles of the characters and the story lines. Anime comes in a range of genres for an audience of all ages. There are stories that simply entertain through comedy, whereas other stories focus on life problems, such as wars, politics or family problems.

One main form of Japanese anime is the exaggerated hair styles and clothings, and large bulging eyes of the characters. You may often see characters with magical powers or extreme fighting skills, especially with the use of Mecha, (a mechanical robot).

One of ARC's purpose is to provide anime for others to enjoy through Anime Weeklies and other events.

Anime Weeklies:

Each semester, anime showings are held every week on the big screen of a lecture room at SFU.

Anime Library:

Interested in watching anime? ARC provides a library of anime VHS tapes for our members to borrow and enjoy.

Anime Evolution:

Each year, ARC combines forces with other anime-related clubs to host a 3 day marathon of anime showings and other events.
