I've discussed with Jesse the possibility of hosting a cosplay workshop and he said to post on the forum and see what everyone thinks.

Here's a little about me. I've done quite a few costumes, all of which I started from drawing the pattern to sewing the fabrics together. I know enough about designing patterns, choosing fabrics, sewing, and one of the most important part, posing for photos.

The workshop will most likely involve powperpoint presentation and have the audience come up and practice posing.

If enough people are interested, then I'll see about actualizing this cosplay workshop.

Oh, wow...that sounds like an awesome idea. I'd love to be able to attend. Cosplaying is one of the greatest loves of my life, but I can never seem to get a handle on doing it just right. I'd definitely show up. I'd put off other stuff to be able to make it. XD

I agree with Selvanic xD You should definitely do something like that.
My friend and I actually emailed Jesse about wanting to start a more prominent Cosplay department of ARC, because we wanted to know who at SFU cosplays (and loves doing it).
We're also fairly experienced seamstresses/cosplayers, so it'd be nice to meet you and collaborate.
So ya ~ We'll come if it doesn't conflict with our schedule ~^-^~

I would totally be interested in showing up.
I absolutly love cosplay and I could use all the tips and tricks available.
And also as Akai-chan said, I want to see who else at SFU cosplays!
COLLABERATION FTW!

Sounds good. I actually didn't know anyone else capable of doing their own costumes. Did you all just join this semester?

Yeah. I just joined this semester.
And for the longest time I've made my own costumes, but they've never come out just as well as I'd have liked.
This year, I caved and purchased one online. And now that I know what that costs, I would REALLY like to improve my sewing.
And, as Aki-chan said, seeing everyone else who does it would be awesome. I've come from a town where cosplaying was...frowned upon to be nice about it.

Maybe we should find a time and meet to talk about the workshop or the Halloween cosplay. Are you guys available on wednesday or thursday at lunch time?

Glad to see so many people enthusiastic about organizing cosplay stuff. Just so you know, our second general meeting will be on October 14th, so I definitely recommend getting something together in regards to a cosplay workshop before then.

Maybe we could cosplay for the Halloween party too? Seems appropriate, no?

Yeah, that is why most of us are discussing getting a group cosplay ready before then.

As for meetup scheduling...

Wednsday I'm available after 12:30. Thursday is worse, but I can make it from 11:30-12:30.
Do you think we could make the meeting for this week? I wouldn't mind getting started on this thing n_n.

Sure, yeah, let's meet at 12:30 on wednesday at the rotunda. Is that ok for everyone else?

Well, finally got my computer to run Opera so I can use these forums :O, Wednesday at 12:30 doesn't work great for me but I can miss 20 mins of a lab without hurting anything. As far as cos experience I can sew verily well but I definitely would love to go to a workshop. especially since having to burn all my recent cos' was horrible :(. Hopefully we can work out our halloween cos so we can get started on it. There's some good thrift stores around here but they tend to loose all the good stuff come the start of October. See ya Wednesday!

I've never really sewed. Never Cosplayed but I think it would be super cool to start. Especially with Halloween coming so quick it would give me a great excuse to get into it. I'll deffinitly be at the meeting Wednesday.

Well I've managed to convince my friend who is amazing at wig-ing to come and show some tips at the workshop!
As long as I keep her updated on place and date, she should be able to come.

=D You are the best, Pip!! Mucho cookies for you!!! All of these well learned people are really going to be beneficial to my less than extensive cosplay knowledge.
