Hi everyone!
After running the oneshot Christmas campaign during the sleepover (which unfortunately didn't reach a conclusion due to sleepiness), I think I'm going to keep running 4th edition D&D games this spring semester. I've decided to start a new thread to keep the potential discussions here separate from other games that might start up next term. But first, an important note:
Next term I am a bit screwed in terms of timing for gaming night. I have a class from 4h30-6h30 PM every Tuesday and Thursday. However, I'm still up for running a game from 6h30 PM onwards, if there is interest.
Given the time constraints I'll likely have next term (5 courses and all) I'll be running published adventures to ease my workload as a DM. Please let me know if there is interest in a game, and if so, please list your preferred tier of play (Heroic or Paragon). I'm not thinking of running an Epic game yet, given how complicated things can get at that level and I want the game to be relatively easy to pick up for newcomers (the Paragon level game I ran during the sleepover was surprisingly successful at getting newer players to get used to, so I think I'm comfortable with that tier of play). If possible, a note on your preferred style of play (roleplay-heavy, hack'n'slash, balanced etc.) would be much appreciated.
I'm thinking of implementing a few houserules I picked up from more experienced DMs on the internet to make the game run smoother and increase the grittiness and lethality of gameplay. If there's a good houserule you have encountered before, you're welcome to post it here and I'll definitely consider it in the game.
And last, but not least, I am well aware of the updates and errata being released for some of the more problematic elements of 4e. I will be using updated rules and materials, and it is your responsibility as a player to keep in touch with the latest rules amendments posted by the good people at Wizards. Here's a link to help you on your way.
Merry Christmas for now, and I'll see you fine folks next term!
PS: I'm also up for running a 4e game during the winter break up on SFU Burnaby campus. Please let me know if there is any interest in such a game. I'm free pretty much whenever and can run games from 11h00 AM to rather late hours, so if there's interest, I'll start planning post-haste!
